PRINCIPAL CONSULTANT

NDIDI A. OKAKPU   |   PRINICIPAL CONSULTANT

Ndidi A. Okakpu is a consultant in community development and social enterprise with an extensive background in business, nonprofit management, fundraising, community relations,  and activism. She seeks to cultivate holistic community development backed by strong and sustainable models for growth in marginalized communities and those most in need.

 

Past clients include: Council of Islamic Organizations of Greater Chicago, Zakat Foundation of America, Inner-City Muslim Action Network and many others.  Most notably, Ndidi served as director of operations for the historic 2015 Chicago Mayoral campaign of Jesús "Chuy" Garcia.  She directed operations for the campaign's 12 offices including their headquarters. In her most recent team leadership role, as Senior Director of Development at  IMAN, she has successfully led a team in raising $41M over 3.5 years.

 

 

Ms. Okakpu has joined several delegations to The White House Office of Public Engagement addressing issues affecting marginalized American communities. She has been featured for her organizing work by the US State Department in its documentary on the contributions of Muslims in America along with other noted Americans such as Congressman Keith Ellison. She holds degrees in Business Administration and Finance from DePaul University.   She is honored to be a Washington, DC native and a proud Chicago resident of 15+ years.  Ndidi recently served as the past Convener and Board Chair of the Chicagoland Shura Council where she was the youngest member and first woman to be elected to, and sustain, that position.
